Google TV Finally Getting Honeycomb Update

According to Maximum PC, Google started rolling out updates to the Google TV operating system this week. Android 3.1 or Honeycomb is the name of the new operating system being rolled out.

The new interface ditches those terrible text menus, and relies instead on a new desktop with icons. There is a TV and Movies app that aggregates all the video content you have access to from sources like cable/satellite, Netflix, and Amazon. The Android Market is finally going to be on Google TV, but apps that require phone hardware including touchscreens and GPS, won’t show up at all.

I believe that Google TV will have an impact on television viewing as we know it. The navigation of most CATV boxes from the video providers is really 1.0 and could use an upgrade although some are better than others. Updating the interface for better user experience, improved navigation and quality search alone, are enough to appreciate the Google interface.
